The Cepheid Xpert GI Panel is a cartridge-based molecular test for rapid detection of common gastrointestinal pathogens directly from stool specimens in Cary-Blair transport media.
Running on the GeneXpert system, the panel uses multiplex PCR to simultaneously detect and identify 11 clinically relevant bacterial, viral, and parasitic targets, with less than one minute of hands-on time and results in about 74 minutes.
By providing fast, actionable pathogen identification, it can help guide appropriate therapy, reduce unnecessary testing or procedures, and support infection control and epidemiologic response while avoiding excessive detection of organisms with limited clinical relevance.
